U 2048

TRAGEDY WILL STRIKE

In a time yet to come, a group of aging friends who have been together all their lives come together when one of their own is stricken with the deadly "Shirley Syndrome."  This futuristic tale was a huge success when it originally debuted in 1996.

U 2048 was Firefly's first dive into the future.  The entire movie was made to mark the first season finale of The Big U Morning Show (Firefly's morning news magazine).  In order to facilitate a short production time, many scenes were dropped from the final script.

U 2048 was the last Firefly movie to be presented under the title "Firefly Productions."  Within a month, the company was rebranded, "Firefly Entertainment" to emphasize the move to stage as well as screen.
