When the first remaining relatives of a wealthy businessman come to visit him on his deathbed, they have no idea that he will be murdered, his body will disappear, and a detective will be called in to solve the crime. The results are hilarious and unpredictable in this farce based on Ryan Dixon's play. The Unknown Inheritance of John Franklin is a murderously funny comedy that would be a crime to miss.
Ryan Dixon's Middle School play becomes Firefly's maiden movie. The Unknown Inheritance of John Franklin was shot over the summer of 1994 at the Poglein Estate near New Florence, Pennsylvania. During the original edit, the audio levels on each dub were set too low and made it extremely difficult to hear. However, the film was still distributed.
The second and third versions of the movie featured new scenes with Neil Rhea and Martin Shiftler who were doing research into the Franklin family. There was also the introduction one other new character, Miss Melinda the Librarian. This version also introduced new soundtrack composed by Larry Mauk.
The third and final version was edited in 1997 by Joe Stapleton, featuring improved video quality and 2 minutes of new footage!
